Secure, Leak-Free Connections with PTFE Hose Ends

When engineering a high-performance vehicle's fluid delivery system, the integrity of every connection is paramount. Redhorse Performance's 1200 Series PTFE hose ends are precision-manufactured to ensure secure, leak-free connections under extreme conditions. The unique design incorporates a specialized barb profile that creates optimal grip on the inner liner of PTFE hoses without damaging the material structure.

These reusable fittings feature a two-piece construction with a socket that compresses the hose against the nipple when tightened, creating a positive seal that withstands vibration and pressure fluctuations. The anodized aluminum construction provides excellent strength-to-weight ratio while resisting corrosion in harsh environments. Each fitting is pressure-tested to exceed industry standards, ensuring reliability in critical applications ranging from fuel delivery systems to oil cooling circuits. The precision machining guarantees consistent thread engagement and proper alignment, eliminating potential leak paths even under extreme temperature variations from -100°F to +500°F.

Compatible with Braided PTFE Fuel and Oil Hoses

Redhorse Performance's 1200 Series reusable fittings are specifically engineered to work seamlessly with braided PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) hoses across multiple applications. The comprehensive compatibility extends to various PTFE hose constructions, including stainless steel braided, aramid fiber reinforced, and conductive PTFE variants. This versatility makes these fittings ideal for fuel systems, oil circuits, and hydraulic applications where chemical resistance is crucial.

The fittings' internal design accommodates the unique properties of PTFE hose, including its non-porous surface and exceptional resistance to fuel permeation. The precision-machined barbs create secure mechanical engagement without damaging the PTFE liner, maintaining the hose's pressure rating and flow characteristics. Available in sizes from -3AN to -16AN, these fittings support everything from vacuum lines to high-volume fuel delivery systems. The standardized AN threading ensures compatibility with other components in your fluid system, while the various configurations (straight, 45°, 90°, and 180°) facilitate proper routing in tight engine compartments. Each fitting's smooth bore design minimizes flow restriction, optimizing system performance in demanding automotive applications.

Frequently Asked Question

Are PTFE hose ends reusable?

Yes, Redhorse Performance's 1200 Series PTFE hose ends are fully reusable. Unlike crimped fittings that require specialized tools and permanent installation, these two-piece fittings can be disassembled and reinstalled multiple times without compromising performance. The socket and nipple design allows for careful disassembly, hose trimming or replacement, and reassembly while maintaining the same high-pressure rating and sealing capability. This reusability makes them ideal for prototype development, racing applications, and systems that require periodic maintenance or modification.

What does PTFE hose stand for?

PTFE stands for Polytetrafluoroethylene, a synthetic fluoropolymer with exceptional chemical resistance and temperature stability. In automotive applications, PTFE hose combines a smooth, non-porous inner liner made from this material with reinforcement layers typically consisting of stainless steel or synthetic fiber braiding. This construction creates a hose with superior resistance to corrosive fluids, extreme temperatures (-100°F to +500°F), and high pressure without the permeation issues common in rubber-based hoses, making it ideal for fuel, oil, and brake system applications.

Can you use hose clamps on PTFE?

Standard hose clamps are not recommended for securing PTFE hoses in high-performance applications. The smooth, non-porous surface of PTFE resists compression and can slip under clamp pressure, especially when exposed to heat cycles and vibration. Redhorse Performance's 1200 Series fittings employ a mechanical grip design specifically engineered for PTFE hoses, creating a secure connection through precise barb engagement and socket compression that distributes force evenly without damaging the hose structure or compromising its pressure rating.

Is PTFE better than a regular hose?

PTFE hose offers significant advantages over regular rubber-based AN hose in specific applications. Its superior chemical resistance makes it ideal for modern fuels containing ethanol and other additives that can degrade rubber compounds. PTFE's wider temperature range (-100°F to +500°F versus -40°F to +300°F for rubber) ensures reliable performance in extreme environments. The non-stick inner surface reduces flow restriction and prevents buildup that can occur in rubber hoses over time. While PTFE typically commands a higher price point, its longer service life, zero fuel permeation, and consistent performance in critical systems often justify the investment for serious performance applications.
